Answer the call of the wild on this ultimate adventure through the Borneo jungle tour. Explore the rainforests of Batang Ai National Park, sip rice wine with locals in a traditional Jingin longhouse and track wild animals on a guided three-day camping trip. You’ll also come face-to-face with local wildlife, including the resident population of orangutans.
Upon arrival, our representative will be waiting to warmly greet and escort you to the hotel. Once you’ve settled in the hotel, relax at leisure. In the evening, you can stroll through the vibrant Kuching streets before heading to the Top Spot Food Center – famous for its open-air style dining to strive for local cuisine. Overnight in Kuching.
After breakfast, make your way to Batang Ai National Park, passing through lush countryside and quaint country villages. Continue traveling paddy fields and pepper plantations as you wind your way to the interior of the spectacular Borneo peninsula.
Stop for lunch at Lachau, a small town on the way to your resort. Arrive at Batang Ai National Park, home to one of Borneo’s remaining orangutan populations and part of one of the largest trans-national conservation areas in the region.
Then, witness spectacular views of the surrounding landscape as you travel by boat across the lake and up the narrow Batang Ai River. Make a stop at Jingin to learn about the traditional 10-door longhouses, created to house entire villages under one roof. In the evening, make new friends as you join the longhouse residents for a glass or two of “tuak” (rice wine) and other fun local activities. Spend the night in the longhouse.
After breakfast at the longhouse, make your way into the heart of Borneo for three days of guided trekking, accompanied by experienced Iban wildlife trackers. Hike deep into the remote Batang Ai National Park, snaking your way up against the Indonesian border and climbing as high as 1600m above sea level.
Home to a large population of native orangutans, there is a high chance you will get up close (or face to face) with these gentle and majestic “men of the forest”. See other rare wildlife species and fascinating plant life as you continue your hike through this diverse tropical rainforest. Spend the night camping in tents or makeshift shelters constructed by your guides using leaves and branches.
Time to say goodbye Malaysia. Have a hearty breakfast and we take a longboat downstream, across the lake to the jetty. En route, we enjoy a packed lunch before reaching Kuching Airport for a flight coming home. The trip ends. Hope we had an unforgettable trip and if you are going to enjoy the Asia travel package again, do not forget us.
