In this 15-day Cambodia In-Depth Tour, admire the country’s best sites and meet a few local personalities along the way. Today, we enjoy a tour to the confluence of the two great rivers in Cambodia – the Mekong and the Tonle Sap. Start your whirlwind day with stops at the Royal Palace and the National Museum. Next, we make our way to the top of Wat Phnom and have your fortune told. Next, visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which documents atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s – a chilling window into Cambodia’s violent past. Then, on a lighter note, shop for anything under the sun at Phnom Penh’s airy Central Market. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
This morning, we travel 340 km to the poetic riverside town of Kratie where we can witness the faded French architecture as well as the elusive and rare pink Irrawaddy dolphins. Make our way to the top of the Phnom Sambok to meet its small temple and immerse in a serene Mekong sunset. Overnight in Kratie.
Today, we spend our day to visit Koh Trong Island. After breakfast, we board on a boat and get into a short journey across for a bit of biking as well as a peek into village life. If it is our lucky day, we will have a chance to meet one of the rare Mekong mud turtles inhabiting the western shore. After getting into a joyfully day, we head back to Kratie. This morning, we take a 4-hour drive to Kampong Cham which is a town steeped in myth and legends. Once there, we will meet the 12th-century Wat Nokor and get into a short trip to the twin hills of Phnom Pros and Phnom Srey as well. Overnight in Kampong Cham.
Today, we set off to Siem Reap by taking a pretty 5-hour drive. Breakfast and morning at leisure until getting escorted to Siem Reap. We reach the destination in the late afternoon. Later, the rest of the day will be yours. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Enjoy breakfast and you’re now full of energy to enjoy a whole day discovering the most renowned attractions of Cambodia – the Angkor Complex. Absolutely, we will take a chance to deeply dive into the Angkor Wat – one of the Seven Wonders in the world recognized by UNESCO and it is the largest religious sites on earth. Also head to the Terrace of the Elephants, Terrace of Leper King, the pyramid-shaped Phimeanakas as well. In the late afternoon, we marvel at a glorious sunset scenery while standing on the top of the Pre Rup Temple. Overnight in Siem Reap.
See the exquisite pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srey, overflowing with small, delicate and very ornate carvings depicting classical Khmer art, and considered one of the best temples of all! Then it’s off for a quick look at Banteay Samre, which is modeled on Angkor Wat, before heading to the Tonle Sap Lake for a cruise around the floating villages. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Set off to a rural village about an hour away from Siem Reap. Visit, a local non-profit organization employing village women who specialize in the traditional craft of mat weaving. Then get hands-on experience as you immerse yourself into daily life. We will travel like an authentic local by taking an ox-cart, receiving a blessing at a monastery, fishing, and farming as well. Funds from this tour will go directly to the community to enhance the lives of the locals. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Take a 2-hour drive to the poetic town of Battambang where you will meet its crumbling French colonial architecture, rubies, and fertile soil as well. You can see the gorgeous scenery from Phnom Banan which is an 11th-century temple with a similar style to Angkor Wat. We also visit an old-aged house there. This day, we have a bit fun as we get on a ride on the bamboo train – all board. Overnight in Battambang.
Today, we visit Ek Phnom which is a prevalent picnic and pilgrimage spots of Cambodia. After having a joyful day trip, we go back to Siem Reap. Enjoy the free evening in there. Overnight in Siem Reap.
After breakfast, we take a domestic flight to Sihanoukville which is the premier beach destination in Cambodia. There will be 3 main beach zones with white sand stretching along the coast and cooling water. Enjoy a relaxed time there, walk along the beach, feel the sand sticking on your feet, immerse in the cooling water and let all your worries washed into the sea, lay your back on the sand and let the sun kiss on your body. You can opt to rent a boat for an island escape of snorkeling, fishing, and swimming as well. Overnight in Sihanoukville.
We spend our last 2 days in discovering Sihanoukville. You can choose to take the two lazy days lying on the beaches or make your way to the Kbal Chhay Waterfall. After days spending on the beaches, it is great for you to switch things up. Stroll around the Phsar Leu Market, get some entertainment at the Led Zephyr or enjoy ATV Tours allowing you to enjoy a wild ride over muddy red dirt plains as well as across rocky streams leaving you definitely covered in red dirt splatter.
